Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine

One of the primary goals at South Jersey Sports Acupuncture is to keep athletes in the game.

Todd has a solid knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, how it performs, where it breaks down, and how to fix it. He uses sports acupuncture for injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as to optimize each athlete’s performance levels.

Ideally, we’d like to prevent athletes from getting hurt but when it happens, we are experts at pain relief, too.

Testimonials

  • I’ve pushed my body to its limits with nearly 20 years in the NHL. Todd helped me by working on some tight, over-trained muscles. Todd’s deep muscle and fascia work also helped get me through some tough pre-season training. I would recommend Todd to family, friends and teammates.

  • I was so pleased when I finally had my first visit with Todd Fluck. Immediately, nagging pains vanished. With each visit, the firing of my muscle chains began to improve. I have been hooked ever since. Thank you, Todd, for your passion and continued efforts toward improving my career and performances!

  • Todd has an ability to identify and work out small problems before they become big problems. Regular treatments are as important to my training and injury prevention as any exercises I do at the gym or track. I’d recommend Todd to any athlete who wants to train consistently and without pain.

  • Todd has played a huge role in my success as a CrossFit athlete. After only two visits my shoulder no longer was an issue in training. My only regret about visiting Todd is that I did not find him sooner. I would recommend him to anyone looking to fix an occurring problem or hoping to prevent one in the future.

  • Training hard requires that you surround yourself with people who are knowledgeable, talented, and skilled in their craft. Thank God for Todd for keeping me moving and taking care of me! Todd is a master at his craft! My body always benefits from time with him! I would recommend his practice to anyone and everyone!

How We Treat Athletes

Some of the ways we treat athletes and active people are through the use of:

Injury Prevention and Performance Optimization

Sports acupuncture and manual therapy can certainly speed an athlete’s recovery from pain and injury; however, both of these medicines work best as preventative therapies. When you invest in receiving regular assessments and treatments, South Jersey Sports Acupuncture can support your body in adapting to its challenges. When the body is able to adapt, pain and injuries can be avoided, which means less downtime and more doing what you love.

Therapy for Pain Relief

As an athlete, you’re familiar with the list of things that can contribute to injuries: sudden impacts, directional changes, overuse/repetition, structural imbalances, improper training, wrong/faulty equipment, and poor technique.

Sports acupuncture is the perfect solution to help heal injuries and orthopedic imbalances that occur from sports and activities. This therapy can provide pain relief and accelerated healing by:

  • calming the nervous system
  • releasing muscular tension
  • normalizing exaggerated pain signals to the brain
  • reducing excess inflammation
  • stimulating the body’s release of endogenous pain killers
  • increasing blood vessel and tissue regeneration

A specialist skilled in Acupuncture Sports Medicine knows the most common injuries associated with various sports and activities and therefore can make the proper diagnosis and treatment. Some of the most common injuries we treat at South Jersey Sports Acupuncture include these and more:

  • knee pain (patellofemoral syndrome)
  • shoulder injuries
  • tennis or golfer’s elbow
  • hamstring strain
  • sciatica
  • shin splints
  • groin pulls
  • concussions
  • ACL/meniscus tears
  • hip flexor strains
